faith insurance

Faith & Community Insurance

This class of insurance provides cover for most faith-based organisations including churches, synagogues, temples, mosques and various places of worship. Faith-based organisations have always played a leading role in human societies, encouraging good values and virtues required in every civilised community.  In spite of the universal credit and “good works” by religious organisations, there currently few insurers in the UK market space with the risk appetite to provide insurance for faith-based activities and organisatons.

Most of these organisations are charitable and non-profitable bodies, depending on gifts, donations and tights as their sources of income.  The limited budget restricts their capability to set up their own robust risk management departments compared to other corporate entities.  As a result, we do all we can to select insurers with strong heritage, tradition and the empathy to understand the special risks underlying the running and management of churches, mosques, temples etc.

Examples of the type of risks and the related covers for a church, similar to other classes of business, are as follows:

  • Property Damage – ‘All Risks’ cover for buildings; general contents; personal possessions (including possessions of volunteers).
  • Equipment Breakdown – Insurance for a range of equipment including lifts, boilers and air conditioning systems and any one accident for computer equipment.
  • Business Interruption – ‘All Risks’ cover including donations and grants as standard.
  • Money – Cover includes fraud and identity theft; fundraising event; losses due to the dishonesty of any director, trustee, volunteer or employee.
  • Employers’ liability – Cover for employers’ legal liability to pay damages and legal costs arising out of bodily injury to employees, volunteers and Labour only Sub-contractors (LOSC).
  • Public & Products Liability – Generally provides cover against insured’s legal liability to pay damages against accidental injury and property damage to third parties.
  • Hirers’ liability – Providing protection to third-party hirers who hire out your

  • Trustees and Management Liability – Cover for the organisation in respect of liability arising from errors made by trustees.
  • Cyber – Protection for your computer systems following a cyber attack or data breach including the costs of dealing with cyber liability claims. There is also the option to insure for cyber crime which includes specialist support if you are the victim of cyber extortion.
  • Legal expenses – Cover for a range of legal issues specified in the policy up to the limit of indemnity stated in the schedule for legal costs and expenses including solicitors’ and barristers’ fees, court costs, expenses for expert witnesses, attendance expenses.
